SYNOPSIS
Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.
When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
I know you aren't perfect. But it's a person's imperfection that make them perfect for someone else.

If there was a zombie apocalypse or anything apocalypse, and I could only bring one book on my surviving journey, I would bring Lola and The Boy Next Door. I know I'm crazy over another book like The Darkest Minds or The Hunger Games, but in a very devastating moment, you need a book apart from a series (Lola is part of series, but each book is stand alone) that could make you full and make you happy \(´▽`)/
I can say Lola and The Boy Next Door is my kind of book. I always love typical childhood friends become lovers like Dawson's Creek or Whatever It Takes. But too bad, other movies or films don't have CRICKET GRAHAM BELL ヽ(*´▽`)ノ
Let me explain the reasons why I love this book.
One, because Lola has passion in costuming and sewing. I am a cosplayer, we have same passion. Talking about her costumes makes me excited! Although I don't have talent in sewing, but who cares, you don't need to have talent to do something you love.
Two, because Cricket makes me
Three, because it's Stephanie Perkins' book!! Enough reason.
If you look for romance book with sweet moments, you're not in wrong way, Lola & The Boy Next Door totally is. But don't get wrong, it's not all about romance. It's also about how Lola, as a grown up girl, finds what she really wants, about her family with 2 fathers and a biological mother (who messes up a lot of thing).
In the other hand, Lola struggles with her feeling toward the next door boy because she already has Max, sexy boyfriend, but 5 years older than her. But you just cannot compare Max with our Cricket becuse it's too far. Cricket is like sparkling star in the sky and Max is Patrick Star in Bikini Bottom. I know Cricket is not perfect (one more thing I love about Stephanie Perkins, she doesn't make the boys as perfect human being), but who does need perfect guy when there is Cricket Bell?
The characters are stellar. Stephanie Perkins' always makes fantastic characters, they have their own characteristic and passion that make them unforgettable. Even for secondary character like Lola's friend, Lindsey. Her style and her interest in investigation and politic are so distinctive!
And there are also appearance of Anna and St. Clair! I just can't stop adore Stephanie Perkins with the way she put them into the story :D
Damn, I can't get enough with Cricket (۳˚Д˚)۳
Stephanie Perkins' is genious in choosing the settings. Here are some places which appeared in the book. As usual, click the photo to go to the source :)
Because I'm so happy :)
