SYNOPSIS
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

I never loved you any more than I do, right this second. And I'll never love you any less than I do, right this second.

REVIEW
I started this book on July 2013, and I just finished it this month *throws confettis*. Beautiful Creatures is very slow-paced. I oftenly put it down and continued again after a month or just left it until I saw it again which was 9 months later... I know this book is really popular, it just did not work pretty well to me.
I think there are several parts which aren't necesarry. I actually like the way the movie cut pretty much parts. In the book, It's too much. Too much come-and-go characters, too much Ethan-Lena's discussions than actual act, too much details for Ethan's daily life. I would say even with casters around Ethan, his life is still boring.
I don't like the romance. It's too plain, I didn't get the feel while I was reading it. It didn't make me ship the main couple here and I didn't care if they would be together or not. I like Ethan, he's funny and generous, but I didn't really get Lena's character. I still don't know about her and I have no interest to her.
I didn't see the other characters spotted on. They weren't developed through the story, or maybe I have to wait because there are 4 books of it. But seriously, it's 563 pages.
I love the setting though! The world building about casters is neatly constructed. I always love the southern setting with mysteries, Gatlin is an interesting small city for this mystic series.

It is enjoyable at some parts, sleepy at most of the book. I will continue the series, I already have all the books, but I don't have idea when will I continue this.
