It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.
Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.
Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?
Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.
And there it is, against all hope, like the sun peeking out from behind the clouds. The smallest hint of a smile.

Many people will agree that These Broken Stars cover is gorgeous. Not only because the girl's stunning dress which is wider than my bed, but also the stars and galaxy on the background. We know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I can't help it. I love beautiful cover. And luckily, this book is as beautiful as the cover.
It's like a combination between Under The Never Sky (which I love) and Lost tv series (which I wished to watch it more but it aired in the wrong time for my daily schedule). It was intense, suspenseful, and sweet.
I found that this is pretty slow at the beginning. It was difficult for me to get into. I really wished there were more things happened when the ship wrecked, but in the book it was happened so fast. As story went on, I grew to love it. The mysterious planet intrigued me. I loved when we had no idea what to expect from a book! Although actually I expected something, and it was Dinasour.. Okay, it was only my awkward imagination.
The survival aspect is a strong point here. It was one thing that made me so invested to the story, although I was curious how Tarver brought some layer of sheets and pillow and blanket and foods, and mechanic suit lol.
The writing style is so poetic. Words danced through the pages beautifully. It gained the effect to Tarver, how that guy described things.
Then her lips are curving slowly, and she's flopping back to lie down and let the rain hit her upturned face. I look across, drinking in her smile, some part of me noticing I'm still holding her hand, fingers tangled through hers. I notice she's shaking, and for an instant I thinks she's ceying.
Then I realize she's laughing too.
I love how Tarver and Lilac's relationship was built. They denied their feelings to avoid brokenhearted because their different statuses. It took long time until they broke the wall between them, and it was very sweet. Some people were annoyed with Lilac's attitude, but I understood and I loved her. While Tarver's POV was like poems, Lilac's was easy to relate to. Her character was developed very good. I enjoyed to see how she changed to be an independent and brave girl.
